SHEEP!!!

My sheep
(Well, they're really my sister, Penny's and her daughter, Alicia's but they LIVE here)

They can be difficult to photograph because they keep running up to me and jumping on my lap.

Here, I'll show you:

Obnoxious enough for you???

Tia thinks it's FUNNY!

I think they (Kahlua!) may have an attitude problem.

Here she is BUTTING my foot because I won't let her chew on the toe of my shoe!

But they're SO pretty!

Sigh...

I am SO disappointed.
Once again, I have been working all day on getting a slide show put together and downloaded.  I figure that a slideshow is a better way for me to post when I want to include a lot of photos.  What do you think?  Do you have a preference for a post with many photos as opposed to a slide show/video?

The REASON I've been working on a slide show is as a tribute to our gorgeous, handsome, goofy, sweet, athletic CISCO.  Because Cisco has left us for his FOREVER FAMILY!

I think it's safe to say that the big guy will get plenty of LOVE in his new home!

Here he is on Becky's (that his FOREVER Mom's name) lap at "settle down time".

The picture quality isn't real good but Cisco has fallen asleep on his new Mom's lap.

As hard as it is for me to let go of one of my rescues ~ especially one that I've had as long as Cisco! ~  I have to admit that I am SO happy for Cisco because I KNOW that he is going to have a WONDERFUL life filled with all the love that he so deserves!

But I still cried...

HERO's Slideshow FINALLY is downloaded...

For some reason, I couldn't upload it to Utube with my choice of music (the song "Hero") but it lets me upload it and use their music ~ which of course means they get to place their stupid little ad on the video.  That's OK.  Just click on the little 'x' and it will go away!.

Taken last week.
Just before the explosion of GREEN!

Have I ever mentioned that I really love this dog...?

Fingers Crossed ~ I THINK it's working...

Monday Part One

I am extremely frustrated with being unable to upload videos or slideshows from Picasa to Utube! I have several days post all set except for the photos that are supposed to accompany them. GRRrrrrr! I've been struggling with this for TWO FULL DAYS AND NIGHTS!  So. For now, I'd like to share some of Hero's (and Bella & Sable's) new friends on the Monday Mischief Blog Hop:

Snoopy's Dog Blog

Not that any of MY dogs ever get into mischief....

I'll be back later with more updates!

Love is in the air...

For Hero!

I took these pictures last week (before the world exploded with GREEN) and was trying to make a slide show but can't get it to download to Utube so gave up.  But our magnificent Hero wants me to post them to impress the lovely young girl-dog that he's smitten with!  Her name is "Bailey" and she has her very own blog!

I promised Hero that I would post lots of pictures of him so that Bailey can see what a big, strong, handsome boy he is...

 "Hero here"
I figured I'd better take over before Mom gets all gushy and sentimental.  You know how she can be!  Anyway, I just want to tell Bailey a little bit about me so that she knows I am sincere in my love for her.

I'd say that I'm an outdoor kind of guy.

I like to RUN
(really FAST!)

I love to play on the burn pile with Sable

Don't worry Bailey,
I love Sable like a SISTER.

This is my other sister, Bellamica.
Mom usually just calls her Bella.

I like to be the "King of the Mountain"

I can also be very gentle.
Mom makes me "be nice to the sheep!".

I'm a real good boy and Mom says I'm very handsome so I'm hoping that you might want to be my girlfriend.

What do you think Bailey???

It's OFFICIAL...

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

No more everything being grey-brown-drab-soggy-ugly.

Things are rapidly turning GREEN!

What a difference a week makes:

The dogs are LOVING it!

And so am I !

I've started a new "Chip-in" fundraiser to help cover the costs of Heartworm preventative and Flea & Tick preventative for the dogs.  I was hoping that a local vet would help by giving me reduced prices for Bluff Country Canine Rescue but unfortunately that is not the case.  There is a "Chipin" widget in the right-hand sidebar...please consider making a donation to help me help homeless dogs...

Every little bit HELPS!

Mixed Blessings...

Gosh. I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad. The truth is, I am BOTH. Jill went to her FOREVER HOME today! A wonderful couple that I liked and trusted completely the moment I met them. You know ~ one of those moments when you just know it is right.

Steve and Lindsey had to say good-bye to their beloved black lab, three months ago, when cancer took him from them. They waited until they felt that their hearts were healed enough to let another dog in and thought it would be a wonderful tribute to their dog if they adopted a rescued dog in his honor.  It didn't take Jill long at all to win them over!

They fell in love with her exotic beauty, her spunk and her sweet, loving personality.  (How could they NOT?)

You may notice that someone else was pretty taken with Steve and Lindsey...

Cisco was in seventh heaven to have met someone (besides me) who actually sat and petted him and appreciated what a wonderful dog he is!  Of course, Jill is also Cisco's best friend so he stuck pretty close to her with all the fuss these nice people were making...

Steve and Lindsey really liked Cisco as well and were very impressed at how well behaved he was once the initial excitement was over.  But, we all agreed that, for now, it is best if they just take Jill home.  They'll give it some time and talk things over and maybe even bring Jill back out here for a play date or have Cisco come in for a visit (maybe an overnight!) at their house so that Jill and Cisco can continue their friendship.

Didn't I tell you they are wonderful people?

I am so happy that Jill has gone to SUCH a loving couple.  I have absolutely no doubt what-so-ever that she will have a wonderful life.  But I already miss her.
A lot.
It's mighty quiet around here.

I think I'll go take Cisco and Hero for a walk...

Fun and Games for the Canines...

I'm not sure HOW the photos also became part of the VIDEO when I downloaded this to UTube, but there you have it! The dogs are having all sorts of fun with our unseasonably warm Spring weather. I should have added music to the first part but I don't have time. Besides, there's plenty of "music" at the end...

Rescued from the digital abyss...

This is the video that I thought I had copied over on Sunday!  The one with no talking.  Just the sound of the sheep baaing, birds chirping, heavy my breathing and the zoom lens adjusting.  Oh yes,  and the dogs crunching walnuts!

I love how distinctly the sounds of the birds can be heard!
I hope you enjoy it.

Come sit with me...

This is how I spent part of my morning on Sunday.
I so love the sounds of the birds out here in the country that I decided to try to capture it.  Unfortunately, the only recording device that I have is my camera!  I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at how well it did capture the sounds.

I actually made TWO recordings but apparently erased the first one when I was trying to get them to download to Utube.  Which is really unfortunate because I didn't talk in the first one!  No speech at all.  Just the sound of the birds!

(well, and the dogs cracking walnuts ~ which is what inspired this second recording...)

Saturday Smiles...

I'm feeling my mood slipping into a place I don't want to go, so thought I'd cheer myself up with some COLORFUL lamb pictures.  (the exaggerated 'colorful' is in reference to the dull drabness of early spring contributing to me feeling down)

Baby "Dazzle"
Now lives with many of her Bluff Country friends at Glentamerac Farm in Northern WI.  She sure was a dazzling lamb!

Cute little lamb butt:

The end.

Poke, poke, poke...

Yup.
 I'm still at it.
 Needling away!

I've got the Pit Bull almost finished.  I may do just a bit more fiddling on his head.   I've already started on my next needle-felted canine.  It WILL be a "Westie"  (West Highland White Terrier).  I'm doing the Westie on consignment!

I've only got the basic body done so far.  I haven't done much at all with the head.  I think that may just be the hard part!  But I am happy with how it is coming along so far...

So far, all of the critters that I've created by needle felting are 100% wool.  I haven't used any wire armature ~ mainly because I haven't gone to town and bought any wire!  I just needle felt like a crazy lady until everything is solid enough to hold it's shape without the framework.

It's fun watching the "personalities" develop as each sculpture progresses!
