Mottleds are really coming along nicely too. I was fortunate enough to go to the Crossroads Indiana show in Indianapolis a couple years ago...amazing show. Many thousands of beautiful birds...I'm not suprised you like the cochins though, they're wonderful birds. The bantams are a bit more fiesty than their larger counterparts, but still loveable :)Raynahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09264278371448401119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22671526.post-41734292452341096282009-08-25T21:17:10.997-05:002009-08-25T21:17:10.997-05:00I so love our chickens! I went out this weekend as well - and got some more chickens. Have to get the camera out and put them on my blog as well.Tammy W.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10931554158709322638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22671526.post-44356704790208532202009-08-25T18:34:51.824-05:002009-08-25T18:34:51.824-05:00Good for you! Very cute face shots! I'm glad you're getting into poultry, there are so many cool breeds out there. "Shine" is a black Cochin. I was ...YES! "Shine" is a black Cochin. I was hoping to find a blue ~ but the breeder I met (has been raising and showing chickens for almost 50 years!) doesn't raise blues. He said they're not "true to type" so he won't breed for them. I fell in love with Shine and bought him and a pair of black hens who are proven producers. I'll keep them in a separate group so that I can raise pure-bred chicks...

(P.S. I also bought a breeding group of pure bred Blue Ameraucanas!!)Nancy K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06061265740359266798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22671526.post-87319982117320048592009-08-25T11:05:51.011-05:002009-08-25T11:05:51.011-05:00Oh my Black Cochin we lost our Hank awhile ago.
