Good-Bye Bluff Country...

Good-bye Paco. You are still the most magnificent Shetland ram I have ever seen.

  2. Bye, Paco... I hope you know it was very hard for your mom to let you go.
We hope you have a nice home with someone who really appreciates you and will love and take care of you as well as Mom did. :(

  3. And remember, Paco...you are your mom's living legacy to the Shetland breed. Without her work and care, you would have never made it here. And how glad we all are to have your bloodlines with us. And it's all because of your mom. Remember that, Paco, as you start your new life.

  5. You're allowed, Nancy.

And you don't need to say anything - we're your friends. And we understand.

  6. Nancy-
To add to what Kathy said...that fact that you found a good home for Paco so quickly is a testament to your superior shepherding. Your keen eye, understanding of the Shetland breed, hard work, careful breeding, and a dream of pursuing a particular striking pattern is what led to his development. Now he is off to spread his superior genetics to better the breed in our country. That is a significant thing when you realize our sheep were on their way out as a recognized breed...we started with less than 100 animals so many years ago...and now we are working on developing whole Shetland classes at county and State fairs...And you are still safeguarding the next generation of his line...what will Spring bring? This is a painful time for you, we all understand...just don't hesitate to let us know what we can do.

  7. Oh man, now I'm crying too! That is the sort of picture that makes every shepherd's eyes fill with tears. But just imagine the legacy of your shepherding skills that Paco is taking with him - to be passed on in shetland sheep forever! Ok, going for more tissue now...
