Wicked!

Poor Firecracker!
He may be a Fourth of July lamb, but the heat seems to bother him more than it does anyone else.

And it's wicked hot!
Temps are supposed to be in the mid-to-upper nineties thru next Thursday with high humidity levels.  The weatherman is forecasting dangerous 'heat indices' of as high as one-hundred and fifteen degrees!

It's a good thing there's LOTS of shade around here.
Still, I suspect the sheep will spend most of their time in the barns.

I on the other hand, am cleaning like a wild woman!
We're having the first "Open House" for my home tomorrow and I'm mopping floors, polishing what little furniture is left and trying to clean up the garage, yard and barns!

"On the Rocks"  (Rocky)

Rocky is sold.  Isn't he growing up to be a beautiful ram lamb?
I still have some gorgeous, HST rams (including Firecracker) available for sale.  I sure hope that I can find good breeding homes for them before it's time to move...

This little lady is also sold but I think that she's so beautiful that I just HAVE to post her picture:

Kahlua

Kahlua is a mystery to me!  She was BORN fawn.  Normally, fawn sheep are born looking moorit and gradually fade to fawn as they mature.

Kahlua's fleece is the same color at the roots as it is at the tips.  Have any of you ever had a fawn that was colored like this?  I really don't know what to expect!   Kahlua will be shown at the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival Shetland Sheep Show in September.  If you're there, be sure to stop by and check her out!

DREAM says...

"That's wonderful Mom.  We're all real happy for Kahlua.
Now could you go get that FAN  that you promised me???"

I'm on my way, Dreamer!

  1. Oh my gosh... the heat that you are having... along with all that humidity. You poor people... and the animals too. Hope you get some relief soon.
That Kahlua is really beautiful. What a face.. and the color of her fur. Wow!
Now go get that fan for Dream... maybe two, or three.

  2. Poor babies...I wish I could offer then a home but I do not think they would like the FL life style since it is always hot and humid.

Good luck with the home open.

  3. Temps here in Virginia are supposed to work their way back up too, after we've enjoyed a beautiful weekend. It'll all come just in time for me to take a road trip to Kentucky where it's worse...I hope your little flock stays cool and you are able to get everything done for your home--The house you sell and the one you lived in are two different places, aren't they?

    Hi Nancy,

Dream needs to take it easy on you. You already have too much to do. If anyone needs a fan, it's little Firecracker... I'm glad you have so much shade. We are nearly as hot as you are even though we're "up north", but at least we have a good breeze during the day, which really helps. Wow that Rocky is a handsome dude--I can't help but be biased... Love those horns coming in!Here's hoping same thing happens at your Open House at happens at ours...

  6. Oh those little faces just tug at the heart strings! It must be so hard to part with any of them after having gotten to know them!
If I was anywhere near enough to your area to attend the show I promise I would be there with bells on.
P.S. I love to knit little guys!
