She made my Heart rock!

I was oh-so pleasantly surprised when the mail arrived on Monday.  A wonderful friend, that I met when we shared a room at a Breast Cancer Retreat last year, sent me a VERY special gift.

Inside the lovely little pink satin bag there was:
A beautiful, polished, HEART ROCK!  Along with a touching note that said it made her think of me when she saw it, and that she just had to buy it for me.

What an incredibly thoughtful surprise!
It would be difficult for me to explain just how much this little surprise meant to me.

To say that it touched me deeply and made my heart smile would not be an exaggeration.
Sometimes, the littlest of gifts can make the biggest impression.

Thank you Joy!
I love you.

Full Circle...

It's like it was 'meant to be'.  In March of this year, I rolled my Jeep on an icy hillside near my home.  Fortunately, I was wearing my seat belt and was not seriously injured.  Unfortunately, the same could not be said for my Jeep.  With over two-hundred-thousand miles on it and in need of new brakes, muffler and whatever else a 1994 car might need in 2010, the decision was made to surrender the Jeep to the mechanic who towed it, in lieu of paying the $150.00 tow charge and the  large amount of money it would cost to fix it up.

I was VERY sad to  say good-bye to my Jeep.  It is the first (and only) vehicle that I have ever had that actually fit me.  You see, I'm short.  In particular, my legs are short.  Which means that with almost every vehicle I've ever driven, I've had to put a pillow behind my back in order to reach the pedals.  *** NO WISE CRACKS ALLOWED!!! ***  If, by some miracle, I could reach the pedals, the seat would be too big and would hit me on the back of my calf ~ making driving for any length of time very uncomfortable.  As in leg cramps.

Not only did my Jeep fit me like a glove, I felt safe in it!  It handled so well and hugged the road more securely than any vehicle I had ever driven.  That was something that I definitely missed in the car that I got to replace the Jeep.  I was scared silly driving that thing!  On almost every curve, it felt like it was going to slide right off the road.  And of course, there was the omnipresent pillow...

On September 12, I had another accident.  Nothing serious.  A fender bender.  But, once again, the results of driving an ancient (1989), beater of a vehicle, meant that the little bit of damage that was done pretty much totalled the piece of crap ~ I mean nice, little, gray car.  No tears shed over this one!  I  NEVER felt safe driving that puppy...

Once again, I found myself without 'wheels'.  A dear friend (Doc) mentioned that he had run into the mechanic who towed my Jeep, after my rollover accident.  Apparently, instead of junking the Jeep for parts, 'Jeremey' decided that he could fix it up!  He took parts from another Jeep that he had at his shop and "Ah-la-peanut-butter-sandwiches"  ~ My Jeep is restored!!!  Jeremey even repainted it to disguise the fact that it has two "new" doors and a new rear hatch!

Last Sunday, thanks to "Doc",  my beloved Jeep came home to the Bluff Country!  How could a car accident possibly be a good thing?  This one was!  I am no longer driving that too big, scary, unsafe, gray car.  I am now, cruising around, safely and comfortably in a vehicle that fits me like a glove and gives me confidence when I am driving it.  The Jeep has been tuned up, fixed up and is in better shape than before I rolled it!

You wouldn't believe how HAPPY one could be
to be driving a 1994 Jeep, once again!

I love my Jeep.
My Jeep is my Friend.
It feels like Family.
LONG  LIVE  THE  JEEP!

Life is good in the Bluff Country!

Sheep Retreat...

My good friend Katie W. had a stressful week.  She had to redo FOUR  years of taxes!  Needless to say, Katie 's nerves were a bit frazzled.  Since  she was driving down to the Bluff Country to pick up chicks anyway, I suggested a little "sheep therapy" to soothe Katie's frazzled nerves...

My girls took their job VERY seriously.

"The poor kid looks beat!"

"Tell me all about it...."

We sat out with the ewes for hours!  What a treat.
I'm thinking there might be a business plan here...

DREAM says:

"Will work for cookies."

That's my Dreamer!

We interrupt this regularly (?) scheduled blogcast for a special announcement:
I have been working on hard on a new WEBSITE.  I wanted a site that incorperates  my interest in my beautiful Shetland sheep as well as my flsashy flock of colorful chickens.  Therefore, it is with great pride (and a little nervousness) that I invite you to peruse my new website and give me your feedback.  Any corrections, suggestions, complaints or compliments are welcome!  I've attempted to  add links to the site within this post and will also add a link on the sidebar of my blog.  To be precise, the URL (address) for the new website is:

Out Like a Lamb...

We still have a couple of months before any lambs will be born in the Bluff Country but I am just thrilled at the wonderful weather we are having.  It's March 30th and the temperatures are supposed to be in the mid to upper 70's today and most of this week!

See all that ugly, brown grass?  It'll be green before you know it!

Sable and Zaria are enjoying the warm days.

Godiva is content growing a gorgeous fleece and waiting  for her 'Mom' to come for a visit

As for Bella and Sable...

Well, they're playing like puppies!

We all had such a wonderful visit with Katie while she was home and already miss her like crazy.  But she promised it won't be so long between visits next time and there sure is plenty of work around here to keep me busy!

DREAM says:

"Mom's going to take lots of pictures this week so that you can watch the grass turn green!  I'll try to do something cute so that Mom takes SHEEP pictures, not pictures of those silly chickens."

You don't have to "try", Dreamer.  You're always cute!

A Beautiful Friendship...

Sable and Bluff Country Zaria

Watching these two warms my heart!

As soon as we enter the pasture, Sable seeks out Zaria (who is usually running to greet Sable) and the joy they share upon reuniting is palpable.

Sable covers Zaria with kisses and Zaria just beams.

ZARIA says:
"I Love my Puppy!"

SABLE says:
"I Love my Zaria!"

DREAM says:
"What's a Girl gotta do to get any camera time around here?
Get a DOG???"

There's Nothing Like a Little Sheep Therapy...

As I had promised Dream, it was time for me to pay a visit to my woolly friends.  It's been a while since I've just gone out and sat with my girls.  Of course, Sable was more than happy to accompany me and a number of the sheep seemed just as happy to see her as they were to see me!

And Sable was absolutely in her element!

The sheep, quite literally, mobbed her!

And Sable LOVED IT!

She gave lots of kisses...

And caught up on all the latest hillside gossip.

It was a very relaxing afternoon.

A good time was had by all!
And may I add:

DREAM  looked LOVELY!

DREAM says:
"Awwww, Shucks!, Mom ~ you don't have to fuss over ME!"

Right, Dreamer.

There's No Turning Back Now....

We had a visitor in the Bluff Country this past weekend.
My Dear Friend, Katie (the wonderful lady who brought Sable home to me from Tennessee) drove down for a weekend of carpentry work!  Katie is experienced with carpentry ~ and suffice it to say that I am NOT ~ so volunteered to help me build some brooder pens for all my upcoming chicks.

OK.  I know.  This is the SHEEP blog.
Enough about chickens!

And that is quite easy to do because it seems that Katie is totally smittinen with my lovely Shetland sheep!

Yes, Katie's got cookies ~ but she's a total stranger to my girls so I gave her a little bribe!
;-)

Chance, of course, quickly discovered that Katie had cookies in her POCKET too!

Dream didn't think she was getting her fair share of the cookies so came back to me to complain about it...

Even Alice & Destiny accepted cookies from Katie!
(Sable was there to give Katie courage)
Actually, she LOVES to go out by the sheep.
(Sable AND Katie)
;-)

We didn't get a whole lot of building done...

But I do believe a new Shetland shepherdess has been born!

It looks like I'll be paying for my carpentry work
with a lamb!

Yup,  there's no turning back for Katie from Wisconsin!

DREAM says...

"I wouldn't count on getting a lot of building done next week either mom!"
