We had our own Fireworks!

Bluff Country Chance waited until July 4, 2011 to deliver the very last lamb born to Bluff Country Shetlands.

Without further ado, I'd like to introduce:
"Bluff Country Firecracker"

Firecracker is a good sized HST ram lamb who looks moorit & white now but will probably be fawn and white like his Mama.  I just love his markings!

Wow!  This is my year for HST ram lambs!  I've got Jim Beam (moorit & white) and Jack Daniels (shaela and white) available as well!   (Captain Morgan and On the Rocks are sold)

Firecracker had his first adventure in the big pasture today (while the rest of the girls and lambs were in the side pasture) and enjoyed following his Mom around...

Chance wasn't too happy that I was 'stalking' her boy with my camera!

But Firecracker didn't seem to mind one bit!

It's kind of fun having a new baby around again.

Dom Perignon, Brandy, Tequila, Duke and Hero all left for their new homes today.
Firecracker is sired by Polar Bear (white).
Bear's the only adult ram that I still have left for sale.  Whoever gets him will be one lucky shepherd.  He is AWESOME and has given me the most gorgeous lambs!   It's a bit frustrating to see the quality of my flock improving so dramatically, right as I'm about to give them up.  At least I can 'retire' feeling that I've accomplished something.
I'm very proud of my flock.

Dream says...

"Poor Alice!  She's been crying all day and running around looking for that handsome Dom Perignon.  She's still got Tanqueray but nobody's slipping a missing baby past that old girl!  She knows how to count to two..."

Poor baby boys!

Or should I say:  "Poor Zest!"?

It finally occurred to me that I needed to separate the ram lambs from the rest of the flock!  I've never done it this late, but I've never had lambing as late as I did this year either.  Since the only way I could get "Rain" (one of Zest's twins) into the paddock I was moving the boys to, was to let Zest in there ~ Zest is keeping all the baby boys  company.

"Chrome" (HST),  "Burdock" (black) and "Rain" (moorit) are all
FOR SALE

Chrome and Burdock are flock sire quality but Rain should be wethered
and kept as a fiber pet (he has heavenly SOFT fleece),  because his tail is too long and woolly.

Rain's twin brother "Storm Warning" is growing into his lovely tail quite nicely.
I think he would be an excellent flock sire as well!
Storm is also FOR SALE...

I have to admit, I've got a real soft spot in my heart for Storm.
He's SUCH a sweet, gentle ram lamb.  I just love him.

In fact, I love Storm so much, that if he doesn't go to a breeding home, I plan on wethering him (I do not want to keep an intact ram) and keeping him for his fleece (AND his personality!).

The other boy that has totally won me over is
"Polar Bear"

I think he's going to grow into a spectacular ram!
His fleece is incredible, his conformation excellent and he's a gentle, respectful ram lamb.
If he doesn't sell, I plan on using Bear on a few of my adult ewes this fall.
He's that good!

Another wonderful, breeding quality ram lamb is
"Burdock"
one of Destiny's triplets

Which, of course, means that Burdock is
an Alice grandson!

Who would have ever guessed?

;-)

This big galoot is
Chrome:

He is AWESOME!

(in spite of the burrs in his fleece!  I'll get them out)
If you want to breed for incredibly dense, soft, moderately crimped fleece and  super conformation on HST Shetlands, you should  be looking at this guy!
Chrome is for sale for $400.00

I still have one other ram lamb, who has not been separated yet.
It appears that Godiva doesn't think it's time to wean her stunning, black ram lamb!

Since he was the last lamb born and is quite a bit younger than the other boys, I'm willing to give him another week with his Mom.  THEN  he's going in with the boys and will be available for sale!
He really is a gorgeous, black ram lamb with just incredible, VERY black fleece.
He's out of my line that goes back to "White Diamond" and his fleece shows it!

DREAM says...

"Gee!  I'm really going to miss (cough, cough!) those obnoxious ~ I mean sweet boys!
Is it almost time for pumpkins yet???"

Soon, Dreamer.
Very soon...

I'll TRY to do better...

I don't know why I've been SO bad about keeping up my blogs lately!
How on Earth did I keep up with things when I was working  full  time?

I'll try to catch you up with  pictures of a few of my girls...

Sable

She's all grown-up and I (and the sheep) adore her!

My beautiful "Bellamica" (Bella)

Lately, Bella's been enjoying coming out into the sheep pasture with Sable and I.  Here she is supervising an orderly exit from the sheep barn...

Look how BIG those ram lambs are!
That's Angel's white, "Polar Bear" and Godiva's "Jazz".

Speaking of BIG babies...

THIS is what a ten year old, Shetland ewe can do without anything but grass!
(OK, I did give her a little bit of creep feed, each day, for the first month.  But ever since then, it's been just grass).
 And animal crackers...
;-)

Beautiful "Clover"
Is one of only two ewe lambs that I have left for sale.

The other is Destiny's triplet:

"Kiss"

My precious "Sara" ~ with her silky, soft fleece

will be leaving for her new home next week.
:-(
I'm sure going to miss her!

Fall is finally here!
I'm loving the cool temperatures.
The chickens are loving my garden...

As is "miss Daisy"...

DREAM says...

"ExCUSE me!
Do I see chickens on MY blog???
They have their own blog!
And they BETTER not be eating MY

uh-oh.

Savor the Holiday!

Happy Labor Day!
How wonderful that many people in the United States get to have a Monday off.  Of course, I'm off all the time since I still haven't found a job.  Ah well, more time to enjoy my critters!

Look at this little beauty!
"Bluff Country Sizzle"

I'm completely in love with Zest's moorit ram lambs!
Storm Warning and Rain

I have GOT to update my "For Sale" page on my website!

Beautiful "Daisy" left for her new home yesterday.
She'll be living with Maria & Josh Krenz of Princeton, MN.
Congratulations Maria & Josh!

 Zaria's gorgeous twin ewe lambs
Snip and Smudge went with Daisy

And Godiva's flashy HST son, "Jazz",  went with three girls.
Can you imagine having your FIRST FOUR SHEEP  be these four?  What a great start with Shetlands!

At least Godiva still has her handsome, black son to keep her company.  He's really growing into quite the correct ram lamb!  Definite flock sire quality.
(Jazz's brother is for sale)

DREAM says...

"I'm just laying in the weeds here, enjoying the peace & quiet.
No labor for me this year!
Mom's all excited about something BIG that she and the Crazy Sheep Lady are cookin up..."

Don't forget to

"Hug A Sheep!"

Two in one day...

Ah-HA!  I did it!  Two blog posts
(on two different blogs) in one day.
I did my chicken blog first and now, here we go with the SHEEP...

But, I want MUSIC!  I want the song "Baby face" playing in the background as you look over the updated lamb photos of some of this year's babies.
I know there's a way to play music on the blog but I don't have time to experiment now, I'm going fishing with my son in a couple of hours!
So, I'm afraid we'll have to make due with "just" the babies...

Godiva's boys
(for sale)

"Daisy"
(sold)

Daisy's twin sister, "Clover"
(for sale)

I really  like this ram lamb!
"Polar Bear"
(for sale ~ or I'll keep him myself!)

One of Destiny's triplets
"Kiss"  (for sale)

Alice's beautiful "Duchess"  (sold)

Handsome "Chrome"
(for sale)

Alice's 'teddybear' "Duke"
(sold)

And who can forget:
"Sizzle"   (sold)

Then, of course, there's
Zaria's twins:
"Snip" (sold)

and "Smudge" (sold)

Beautiful "Sara" is also sold

I still have both of Zest's moorit ram lambs available.
No picture today as they were running around being boys!
Rain's tail is too long so he will be wethered and sold as a pet ($100.00) but Storm is looking reall good so he's for sale (or I'll keep him).  I like him a lot as well.

I think that updates pretty much everyone.
?

I'm starting halter lessons this weekend!
Wish me luck...

DREAM says...

"If you need any help with those halter lessons, Mom,
I'm your girl!  We'll get those little brats darlings trained in no time!"
