Getting into the Spirit of the Season...

We got a decent amount of snow last night.
And it's plenty cold outside.
I got the Christmas decorations out.
I guess it's time to get into the spirit of the Holidays!

Atta Boy, Jethro!
I know you're not really thrilled  with the hat and antlers on your head.
I can tell...

But you're SUCH a good sport!

Sable thinks I'm NUTS!

She refuses to relinquish her dignity!

Even in antlers and a Santa hat!

Sweet Jasmine isn't too sure about this silliness!

But she'd never complain!

Even when she's TIRED!

And THEN, there's
Bellamica...

"You can't MAKE me behave!"

Oh yes I CAN!

"Bah, Humbug!"

We hope that no matter what you believe in, you are enjoying the buildup to the Holidays and that your life is full of good health, good friends, and GOOD DOGS!

Of course, if you don't happen to have a dog, we probably could help you out with that!  If you already have a dog that makes your life more joyful, perhaps your DOG would like to make a donation to our "Chipin", on the sidebar of this blog to help us save other deserving dog, so that they too may one day bring unconditional love into somebody's Christmas!

Laughter then smiles...

I'm getting forgetful in my old age.
I may have posted this video before.  I really can't remember!  But I watched it again on UTube and laughed so hard that all the dogs came running and were all concerned that something was wrong because I was laughing so hard that I was choking!

This could be titled:  "How NOT to promote dogs looking for adoption"
I swear, I've seen this before (and read the comments from the curmudgeon dog experts) and it still makes me laugh until I'm crying and coughing and almost pee my pants!

I SWEAR,  Jethro is almost as bad as that Pit!  He's got a tongue as fast as a frog's...
Now that we've all had a good laugh.  As we catch our breath and wipe the tears from our eyes and try to convince the animals and people who came into the room to see what the heck was so funny, I'll give you a bit of a breather.

I sought out this video and chose to post it in honor of two cyber friends.  Both found solace in the first song, one specifically recommended this version.

For John and Kim (with love in my heart!)

The fundraising campaign (see sidebar) is going well but please don't let it stop!  Every single donation helps me to rescue innocent, loving dogs from shelters where they face euthanazia!  Imagine how good you'll feel by helping to save a dogs life.  Think of all the joy that dog could bring into the life of some individual or family someday.  Please "share the love" and make a donation today.

Fear of the Unknown...

I love the music set to this video.  It fits so perfectly.  It's also a wonderful example of how worked up we can get ourselves when we face something we've never dealt with before...

Yes.  There is a reason for my choice of this video today.  I am facing something I've never dealt with before.  The doctor called me a day early.  He called yesterday and asked how my breast was feeling after the 'nerve incident' on Tuesday.  I told him it was still sore but not nearly as bad as the day it happened.  Ice packs and ibuprofen kept me reasonably comfortable.  Of course I asked him if he'd heard anything back from the biopsy.  He had.  The samples are malignant.  I have breast cancer.

I'm meeting with another doctor tomorrow, to discuss my treatment options.  It appears my first decision will be lumpectomy or mastectomy.

Wow.

Now, I need to learn everything that I can about my cancer and my options.  Once I have more knowledge, I don't think it will feel quite so scary...

My Beautiful Baby Girl helping out...
aka: Pig Rodeo!

No time to post the past few days with My Beautiful Baby Girl and her WONDERFUL fiance home for a visit.  My phone line is out now so I can't speak to any of my kids so thought I'd quick share this video of Katie helping out this afternoon.
We had fed the Piggles but Ivy (the little pig!) choked on her food and didn't finish eating so we put her food aside so that Holly didn't eat it.  When Ivy was feeling better, Katie took her food back to her but had to keep Holly (the larger of the two piglets) from getting it.  It was a bit of an American Guinea Hog rodeo...

Thank you Katie and Carter for being such wonderful helpers and for taking such good care of me when I was (once again) not feeling well! I love you guys so much and miss you already!
Pam & Karl, thank you so much for treating us all to dinner at Olive Garden.  It was, as usual, an absolutely perfect evening.  I had so much fun with all three of my Kids and my three Grandsons...
I'm still smiling...
More tomorrow!

I have a Confession to make...

I am SO bad.
There's this evil, little part of me,
deep down inside, that just can't resist the temptation
of pulling something over on someone.  At least once in a while!

;-)

Several people commented, on yesterday's post, that they heard a bell tinkling but couldn't find the source.  After looking all over the rooms that they were in, a few decided that it must be the 'comment sheep' in my side bar.  She wears a bell on her collar and perhaps that is the culprit making the noise.

Nope.
Not the sheep.
Good guess though.

The truth is, I did unto you, what was done unto me.
While blog browsing, the other day, I too heard a gentle bell chiming.  I heard it several times before I began to wonder where the sound was coming from.  I looked around my office.  Then I looked around my office again.  Still couldn't determine the source of the ringing.

Not that it was an unpleasant sound.  In fact, it was a soft, gentle sound.  Like wind chimes, barely stirring in the summer breeze.  One of my cats wears a collar with a bell on it and she was sitting on my computer desk.  (I suspect that she was rather amused by my frantic searching, every time I heard that bell ringing.)  I wiggled the bell on her collar, several times, to see if it was making the noise.  A completely different sound.

After several minutes (that seemed like MUCH longer) of looking all over my office, I finally found the source of the 'tinkling'.  It was located on the sidebar of the blog I was reading (sorry ~ I can't remember which one it was!) and was a wind chime!

As I've already stated, I love wind chimes.  In fact, I have several in my house and a big one out by the sheep barn.  When ever I hear the gentle music of the one in my dining room, I think of "fairy dust" being magically sprinkled about my home.  I know ~ it sounds silly ~ but that's what I think!

I had to laugh at myself and my frantic searching for the source of the delicate sound so decided that I would add a wind chime to my blog as well.  And hide it, WAY down on my sidebar.  I know.  I'm bad.  I'm apparently one of those wicked people who take pleasure in eliciting reactions from people ~ even when I won't be there to see the reaction.

But, it was such fun when you started to leave comments about hearing a bell ringing...

;-)

Have a wonderful day!

Just For Fun...

How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?

Golden Retriever:
"The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?"

Border Collie:
"Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code."

Dachshund:
"You know I can't reach that dumb stupid lamp!"

Rottweiler:
 "Make me."

Lab:
 "Oh, me, me!!!!
Pleeeeeeze let me change the light bulb!
Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I?"

Malamute:
"Let the Border Collie do it. You can feed me while he's busy."

Jack Russell Terrier:
"I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing off the walls and furniture."

Poodle:
"I'll just blow in the Border Collie's ear and he'll do it.
By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry."

Cocker Spaniel:
 "Why change it?
I can still pee on the carpet in the dark."

Doberman Pinscher:
"While it's dark, I'm going to sleep on the couch."

Boxer:
 "Who cares?
I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark......"

Mastiff:
"Mastiffs are NOT afraid of the dark."

Chihuahua:
 "Yo quiero Taco Bulb".
"We don't need no stupid lightbulb."

Irish Wolfhound:
"Can somebody else do it? I've got this hangover....."

Pointer:
"I see it,
there it is,
there it is, right there...."

Greyhound:
  "It isn't moving. Who cares?"

Australian Shepherd:
"First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle...."

Old English Sheep Dog:
"Light bulb? "
 "I'm sorry, but I don't see a light bulb?"

German Shepard:
"Alright, everyone stop where you are! Who busted the light?
I SAID, STOP WHERE YOU ARE!!!"

Hound Dog:
 "ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz"

I found the verse on Google but it didn't have any photos with it.
I'm not feeling well today so am staying indoors, instead of working outside like I should be.  You wouldn't believe how many hours I just spent going though "Google Images" of all the different breeds to try to find just the right picture to go with each saying.
I think it turned out rather nicely even if I DO say so myself...

Latest NEWS FLASH...

A  Dear, blogger Friend sent me the following Emergency Medical Services update this morning.
It brings me hope...

**EMS** has introduced trained service dogs to help cut costs.*

*Canines have been used for police work, search & rescue, tracking, service dogs, and a variety of other tasks.*

*Now they're assisting EMS and doing so at a much lower cost.*

*See the example below...*

please scroll down for an example of a highly trained
EMS service dog at work:

*Breathe, damn you, breathe!*

I have no idea where Tammy got this, so I am unable to give credit to it's author but it had me rolling on the floor and wiping tears from my eyes.

I must say,  Sable's been doing her best to help me in my recovery.  Although I don't always appreciate her attention!  She is considerably larger than the puppy in the above photo but was apparantely trained in the same technique...

My heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone for the kind words, thoughts, prayers and wishes for my recovery!  They really do help!  I am finally making some progress towards becoming a functional human being again.  I'm even going to try doing a couple of loads of laundry and VACUMMING today!

I suffered a significant concussion, but other than that, only minor cuts and scrapes and some aches and pains.  All are deminishing a little each day.  I am so grateful to my daughter, Pam for helping me through this difficult time, as well as my Dear Friend Katie W., who has made several  trips to come down and help in any way that she could.  I know that my Beautiful Baby Girl felt horribly frustrated that she could not be here to help her Mama but thoughts of her coming to see me in just a COUPLE OF WEEKS sure do inspire me to heal and get well as quickly as possible.

I am very blessed.

"I don't see what's so funny about that puppy but I sure am happy that Mom's feeling better!  She's even going to come out and SIT with us today and TAKE PICTURES!
I LOVE having my photograph taken.  I must tidy up to look my very best.  See you soon!"

Coming in Like a Lamb.... ...

There may still be plenty of snow on the ground but with the temperatures expected to be pushing forty degres (F) by the end of this week, Spring is definitely in the air!

My Beautiful Baby Girl saw this sign in a window at a movie rental place  in Augusta, Georgia:

I said  I'll pass ~ I've already been there ~ done that!

"Dear Blogger..."

"Please SEND HELP!

Mom is a crazed woman. She's been tying me up and ripping my wool out rooing me, every chance she gets!

I tell you, it's traumatizing!!

I feel like a plucked goose!!

And these photos...

How would you like to have your picture taken while you were fifty pounds over weight , at the beauty parlor ~ all wrapped in tin foil and with your eyebrows encased in wax????

I'm telling you, it's humiliating! You don't see DREAM standing around, half naked, do you???

I may never live it down.

Love,
Zaria

P.S.
I still love you, Mom! And I'm gonna give you BEAUTIFUL babies!!"

I don't doubt that for a moment, my beautiful Zaria. Not one moment!

;-)

Have a great weekend, Everyone!!
