And the Winners are....

Mom says we're  the winners because we have great friends like YOU!
Thank you for joining our family and following along with A Shepherd's Voice!

Since Mom did promise some prizes, here we go:

For her incredible  knowledge of all things Bluff Country,
Jean, from MN. has won herself one of the
limited edition
DREAM figurines!

Congratulations, Jean and thanks for being such a loyal follower!

Late last night, I googled a 'random number selector' and it drew the comment made by TheCrazySheepLady ~ of "Punkins Patch"

Send me your snail mail address Sara and I'll
get your "sheep on a cart" out to you!

As a special thank you to our 100th 'follower',
Patrice will be receiving her choice of shape and fragrance in a bar of homemade goat milk soap.  Welcome to "our family" ~ I'll need your info to get that in the mail to you, Patrice.

I do want to apologize for taking SO long to get this post up today!
I must have partied too hard yesterday!  I actually slept until NOON!
That is just not heard of around here.

And then, I woke up to
Thunder Snow!!!

The Piggles desperately trying to get into the chicken coop, while I was out feeding animals and gathering eggs when the snow let up!

DREAM says...

"Aren't you supposed to EAT those Piggles or something???"

DREAMER!!!

And the WINNER is...

Oh, my gosh!

My animals are SO excited that the word contest is over and we have a winner.

They are particularly pleased with the one that was voted the favorite.

It was a heart-throbbing, tight race...

But, finally, a clear winner emerged...

Recognized for her intelligence, wit and way with words,

Everybody's favorite shepherdess...

We want to thank everyone  that played the game.
It really was FUN!

Corinne, please contact me with your choice of soaps!

MiMi says...

"Can I go out now?  I've gotta PEE!"

Speaking of pee  ~ ~   P.S.
For those who may not remember, Corinne's submission was:

relazi  (re lazi)  meaning:  you have been lazy, but have not done it satisfactorily so you have to do it again.  Example:  My husband has been lying around all day but he feels as though he needs to relazi now by watching the football game for 5 hours.

(in Corinne's husband's defence ~ it WAS the Super Bowl!!!)

You're not going to believe what I did...

...Sigh...

I did it again.
I put today's post (the poll!) on my chicken blog.
I honestly did not do this on purpose.

But, since It's done and I don't want to go through the hassle of retyping the whole thing,  if you don't mind, please go over to my "Backyard Chickens" blog and vote for your favorite word/definition combination.

I apologize for any inconvenience.
I will announce the winner tomorrow morning!

DREAM says...

"Bwaaaaa, Haa Haa Haa Haa!  Way to go Mom."

Thanks a LOT, Dreamer!

P.S.

I want to mention that two of my favorite word/definitions were the following:

decidon (Dik-ee-dahn) a shamed Greek god, banned from folklore for his hideous fashion sense, Dicidon was brother of Poseidon, but his love of dickies under his tunic resulted in his expulsion from Mt. Olympus
and
(my absolute favorite!)
porwaf:  a tragic and unfortunately wedded female usually found in the deep south.  Signs of such a creature may be hoards of screaming children, clothing that resembles used handkerchiefs and the ability to nurse offspring, darn socks and cook up a mess-a-sumthin, simultaneously.  The name originated from locals known to say "look yonder at that thar girlyan all thems wee things.  an with her man down at the pub.  sho thing...ahh prwaf."

However, since these two entries were submitted by my Beautiful Baby Girl,
aka "La Mia Bella Bambina,
and she can have all the home made goat milk soap she wants, at any time, I decided to exclude them from the poll.

Thank you so much for entering them, Katie!  They definitely made me laugh.

To see the entries that DID make the cut...get on over to my Bluff Country Backyard Chickens Blog!

What are we playing for???

I had no idea how imaginative and FUNNY my readers are!

I'm going to set up a poll on Wednesday morning  and let you vote for your favorite words/definitions out of the list that I narrow it down to.  Please continue to share the letters that you see when posting a comment and the definition that you make up to go with the imaginary word that you make out of those letters,  until midnight onTuesday, 2/8.

The winner will be announced at 9pm on Wednesday evening and will get to pick out TWO bars of my homemade goat milk soap as their prize.

Choose from "plain" bars ~ like the "honey-almond" bar above.

Or fancy bars like this 'cinnamon' quilted sheep:

Or this lovely "spice" fragranced bar dedicated to the love of knitting with wool:

Our winner might prefer a heart-shaped soap for Valentine's Day:

Who could resist an "orange/clove scented, curly sheep?

You can see some of the other frangrances and options that are available in my
"Sheep Hugs & Soap Suds"  online store.

If you haven't played the GAME yet, or are unsure of the rules, check out the original post where I explained it.   You can also get a good idea of how the game is played by reading through the comments on the last three posts.  It's been a blast!

DREAM says...
"Dazzle asked me to remind you that you can enter as many times as you want but to please use a different comment for each entry.  And to be sure and keep the letters in the order that they appear in the little box.  Mom says you don't need any instructions on making up definitions because she's been cracking up in there, reading the ones that you've already been posting"

Good Luck!

So, what do the GIRLS think???

As I mentioned, there has been quite a bit of excitement with the reuniting of my entire Shetland flock.  A little head-butting by the boys.  But what about the girls?

Alice seems happy to have her daughter, Princess, back.

Princess and Kiss are a bit surprised by the crowd at feeding time.

It seems that each of the rams is trying to keep the ewes all to them self.  The poor girls don't know which way to turn!

DREAM says...
"The boys are really obnoxious but I'm not scared  of them."

"It's not like I'm  trying to hide or anything!"

"Chance, go see if the coast is clear..."

Don't forget, we're still playing the GAME.  When you click on 'publish comment' or 'preview comment', edit your comment to include the letters that you have to copy in order to post your comment.  Show the letters that you got (in the order they appear) and make up a word & definition using those letters as a word.  You may enter as many times as you like, but please leave a separate comment for each entry.   On Wednesday, we'll pick a winner of the best definition of whatever words you come up with.  Tomorrow, I'll show you what you'll be playing for...

If you want a good chuckle, look over the comments in the last two posts and see the funny words and meanings that people have come up with!

GAME Time!

DREAM says...

"You are NOT going to believe what Mom has done!
Suffice it to say that things are not exactly  peaceful in the Bluff Country today."

I put all the sheep back together yesterday.
The game is ON!

Actually, things have settled down quite nicely.
But I did reunite ALL of the sheep yesterday.  It was "interesting".  I took so many photos and I want to share them but I'm going to split them up into several posts instead of one, L  O  N  G  one.

I would also like to invite you to play along as you watch the antics of my flock.
I've always thought it would be great fun to give meanings to the random letters that pop up when you go to leave a comment on most blogs.  What I would like to do, is propose a game:

Each time you leave a comment, please include the random letters that you had to copy and your definition of the word you make of them.  Keep the letters in the order they appear.  I realise that in most cases, the results aren't a "real" word ~ that's half the fun!

On Wednesday, Feb. 9 we'll select the "winner" (the person with the best definition for their made up word) and that person will win a PRIZE (to be determined).

Remember, you must use the random letters that pop up when you  are about to leave a comment.  You may enter as many times as you wish but only one word for each group of letters will be accepted.

"This is gonna be FUN!"

Crazy! Bad news and Good news...

I'm sorry for not announcing the winner of the Silent Auction yesterday.  I have been going absolutely crazy trying to get orders filled for  "Sheep Hugs & Soap Suds".

That darn "Bubbles" takes a LONG time to make!
I shipped six orders out by Priority Mail today.

Such a nice problem to have.
;-)
Thank you to everyone who has ordered!

The "Bad News":
I didn't win the Photo Contest.

I have to admit, the photo that won IS adorable!  If I hadn't been competing in the contest, I would have voted for it.  I was disappointed to not even get honorable mention, however.
Ah, well.  Maybe next time!

The "Good News":
Congratulations to Donna Schoonover for her winning bid on the FIRST in the limited edition series of "DREAM" ~ the needle felted, soap/sheep that looks just like Dream!

I want to thank everyone who bid but most especially Donna, who's one-hundred-dollars will be put to good use!  Yes, I made it through another month!

;-)

DREAM says...

"Ah-HUM!  Don't you think you should be thanking ME?
Donna bid that because she loves ME.
Give credit where credit is due, Mom..."

Of course, Dreamer!  I am ever so grateful to you.
Always!

(and I'll be letting you out of that barn SOON!)

I've entered a CONTEST.
First prize is $500.00!

I've entered a "Country Animals" photo contest
It's through "Living the Country Life" and first prize is Five Hundred Dollars.
Now, THAT would buy a lot of soap-making supplies1
;-)

One can enter up to eight photos.
This is the first one I entered.  I tried to tell a little story with my first four pictures.

The contest is decided by VOTES  from the public.

Everyone gets one vote, each day.

I'm thinking of entering another photo or two.
Want to help me decide which ones?
The only problem with entering more is that it could potentially split MY votes and lower my chances of winning.

DREAM says...

"Clearly, we need some Sheep photos in this contest!!!"

Any suggestions?
Please follow the link and VOTE.
Remember, you can vote for one, EVERY  DAY  through Nov. 30.  The winner will be decided by the number of votes, so please don't forget me and please share this with YOUR friends!

And the Winners are...

I want to thank everyone who took the time to offer an opinion regarding the name of my new business adventure.  I appreciate all the suggestions and input.  I still have not decided, for sure, which name I am going to use ~ I think I will discuss it at my Business Development class next week.

I can tell you that the most popular name in this contest was "Bluff Country Dreams", with a close second place going to "Bluff Country Treasures".

Without further ado, DREAM would like to announce the winners of the two Give Away Contests:

"The winner of the sheep figurine is:  *Bea*"
"The only problem with this is that Bea's entry does not have a link with it that enables Mom to contact her, so we're going to have to hope that she contacts Mom to claim her prize!"

"Believe it or not, the same thing happened with the winner of a bar of Mom's Homemade Goat milk Soap!  *Betty*  is the person selected in the random drawing, but she also doesn't have a link!  We hope you'll get in touch with Mom, Betty, so she can send you a bar of whatever soap you would like!"  The most popular scent voted for in the contest was clearly Lavender.  Guess Mom will have to make some more of that!

Thank you all for voting.
I think Mom may just have another contest coming up soon..."

A word from the shepherdess:

I had a wonderful visit with my Dear Friends, Linda a Pete, in Pennsylvania and had the chance to have a (very emotional) last snuggle with two of my all-time favorite ewes.  Bluff Country Zest (moorit) and Bluff Country Zodiak (black/iset) now make their home with Linda and Pete.  I have no doubt that they will be loved and well cared for, for the rest of their lives.  But it was so very painful for me to see them and pet them and cry onto Zest's shoulder, one last time.  I feel overwhelmed with guilt for having 'betrayed' them and sent them away from the only home they have ever known.  Even now, as I write this, the tears are flowing.

Thank you, Linda and Pete for giving these two lovely ladies (and all of the other sheep you have purchased from me over the years!) a loving home.  And for putting up with this tearful shepherdess.

Tomorrow, I'm going to do a post about the wonderful day that Pete and Linda and I had exploring the wine country of New York and Barcelona Beach!
Hint:
I've started a new "collection"!!
