Introducing..."ALICE"!

You may be wondering why I would be introducing  Alice?
Seeing as most of you met her LONG ago....

These two photos of Alice were actually posted in one of my very first blog posts in 2006!
You can see the first post about Alice  HERE

Look how YOUNG she was!

The reason for the reintroduction is to announce that this Saturday, FEB. 19 will be the FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY  of "A Shepherd's Voice"!

Five years.
Over NINE HUNDRED POSTS!

DREAM says...

"We're going to have a BIRTHDAY  PARTY!!!
There will be games and prizes and contests and the chance for you to re-visit your favorite posts!  Oh, I do hope that you will  join us!"

Me too, Dreamer!  While I'm working on some of the games and contests, perhaps our readers might want to request a Flashback to a favorite, older post.

If there's a post that you'd like to see again, you can either put the link to it in a comment or tell me about it and I'll find the link for you!

For now, link or no link, I'd like everyone that has a favorite post from "A Shepherd's Voice" to tell us what it is...

If you don't have a favorite post, perhaps you could tell us what you like the best about A Shepherd's Voice...

It's NEVER too cold...

To get outside and take pictures of my CRITTERS!

Isn't she gorgeous?
ELEVEN years old, folks!
Alice is eleven years old.  The lambs she has this year will be her last.  From now on, she'll just be Grandma.

These two girls (Princess & Kiss) are Alice's daughter and Granddaughter.  Both are triplets.  They are still in with Hero but I may try rearranging things when we get the next 'warm spell'.

Speaking of Hero...

He sure is a handsome ram!

He has to check out Sable and Bella when they want to come into Hero's paddock.

Bella says

"That's close enough!"

She is a herding breed, after all.

I've moved my poor, little piglets out to the hay barn.
Don't worry, they snuggle into the bales of hay to stay warm.

I don't shut the door to the hay barn, so they can come out whenever they want.
Needless to say, they're squealing for their breakfast,  at my back door, the first thing every morning!

Even Bella Kitty
(the "outdoor" cat that I adopted who now spends equal amounts of time indoor and outdoors)  doesn't seem phased by the cold.  I'm always surprised when she wants to venture out into the snow.

Mi-Mi Kitty, on the other hand,
MUCH prefers a warm place to spend her time...

You can see close up pictures of the baby chicks on my Chicken Blog.

DREAM says...

"Mom says we're lucky that the worst of the winter storm went South of us.
I have no idea what the heck she's talking about!"

I'll TRY to do better...

I don't know why I've been SO bad about keeping up my blogs lately!
How on Earth did I keep up with things when I was working  full  time?

I'll try to catch you up with  pictures of a few of my girls...

Sable

She's all grown-up and I (and the sheep) adore her!

My beautiful "Bellamica" (Bella)

Lately, Bella's been enjoying coming out into the sheep pasture with Sable and I.  Here she is supervising an orderly exit from the sheep barn...

Look how BIG those ram lambs are!
That's Angel's white, "Polar Bear" and Godiva's "Jazz".

Speaking of BIG babies...

THIS is what a ten year old, Shetland ewe can do without anything but grass!
(OK, I did give her a little bit of creep feed, each day, for the first month.  But ever since then, it's been just grass).
 And animal crackers...
;-)

Beautiful "Clover"
Is one of only two ewe lambs that I have left for sale.

The other is Destiny's triplet:

"Kiss"

My precious "Sara" ~ with her silky, soft fleece

will be leaving for her new home next week.
:-(
I'm sure going to miss her!

Fall is finally here!
I'm loving the cool temperatures.
The chickens are loving my garden...

As is "miss Daisy"...

DREAM says...

"ExCUSE me!
Do I see chickens on MY blog???
They have their own blog!
And they BETTER not be eating MY

uh-oh.
(click on 'pumpkins' to see who's eating the pumpkins in 2007)

It is SO Hot...

Even the sheep are sweating!

OK so maybe they're not really sweating but Alice's daughters, "Princess" (left) and "Duchess"  are damp.  It's from the morning dew.  We get so much dew around here that it keeps the pastures green, even during a drought!

Alice's son, "Duke" enjoys the cooler morning temperatures
He is such a handsome ram lamb!

I definitely want to keep one of Alice's girls.
That's Princess on the left and Duchess coming at the camera.

I just can't make up my mind which one!

I do SO love my Princess...

Duke says...

"Hey!  What about ME?"

"What am I?"

"Chopped Liver???
Of course not, Duke!  You're a very handsome ram lamb and there is already someone very much in love with you.  You may be moving to a new home very soon...

Dream says...

"Maybe THEN Flashdance and I will have our babies!
That's right ~ we're just waiting 'till there's
more room!"

(I'm still not even sure that she's pregnant!)
