Poke, poke, poke...

Yup.
 I'm still at it.
 Needling away!

I've got the Pit Bull almost finished.  I may do just a bit more fiddling on his head.   I've already started on my next needle-felted canine.  It WILL be a "Westie"  (West Highland White Terrier).  I'm doing the Westie on consignment!

I've only got the basic body done so far.  I haven't done much at all with the head.  I think that may just be the hard part!  But I am happy with how it is coming along so far...

So far, all of the critters that I've created by needle felting are 100% wool.  I haven't used any wire armature ~ mainly because I haven't gone to town and bought any wire!  I just needle felt like a crazy lady until everything is solid enough to hold it's shape without the framework.

It's fun watching the "personalities" develop as each sculpture progresses!

Needle Felted Friends...

 I've been a busy lady!
I've almost completed my very first needle felted critters.

I still have detail work to do on the polar bear and the PIT BULL PUP is only about half done.  I've just started adding the white on him and am beginning to work on his "back half".

I have to confess:
I LOVE MY PIBBLE!
(affectionate term for a Pitbull)

He'll be much cuter when he's done.

I think I may incorporate my Felted Friends into Fundraisers for BCCR.
The little black bear turned out pretty cute...

And the Polar Bear is FUN.
He sits or lies on his back, kicking up his feet!

I hope you like my Needle Felted Friends and that you'll consider bidding on them to help raise funds for Bluff Country Canine Rescue.

Stick a needle in it!

As per special request by a long-time reader and friend, I'm sharing some photos of a few needle felting projects that I am working on.  None of them are done.  Most are nowhere near complete but all are FUN!

Nice and Easy!
This little flower will eventually become part of the blue bag that it is lying in in this picture.

NOT so Easy!
The inspiration for this doll came from a book about beautiful, sewn, cloth dolls.  I thought they were gorgeous and decided that I could needle felt them instead!

Time will tell.  They are really quite elaborate!

It has taken me several weeks (with lots of starts and stops and start-overs) to get THIS far!

FUN!
Where as I started this this morning...

and it's coming a long quite quickly!
All I have left to do is some finishing work

and then I might add a little bling!

Crazy! Bad news and Good news...

I'm sorry for not announcing the winner of the Silent Auction yesterday.  I have been going absolutely crazy trying to get orders filled for  "Sheep Hugs & Soap Suds".

That darn "Bubbles" takes a LONG time to make!
I shipped six orders out by Priority Mail today.

Such a nice problem to have.
;-)
Thank you to everyone who has ordered!

The "Bad News":
I didn't win the Photo Contest.

I have to admit, the photo that won IS adorable!  If I hadn't been competing in the contest, I would have voted for it.  I was disappointed to not even get honorable mention, however.
Ah, well.  Maybe next time!

The "Good News":
Congratulations to Donna Schoonover for her winning bid on the FIRST in the limited edition series of "DREAM" ~ the needle felted, soap/sheep that looks just like Dream!

I want to thank everyone who bid but most especially Donna, who's one-hundred-dollars will be put to good use!  Yes, I made it through another month!

;-)

DREAM says...

"Ah-HUM!  Don't you think you should be thanking ME?
Donna bid that because she loves ME.
Give credit where credit is due, Mom..."

Of course, Dreamer!  I am ever so grateful to you.
Always!

(and I'll be letting you out of that barn SOON!)

Cat in the Snow and Last Chance!

I fell in love with this photo when I saw it on the blog of my  cyber-friend,  John Gray ofTrelawnyd, North Wales, United Kingdom.  John writes often humorous, sometimes deeply touching tales of his daily life caring for his many animals and living in rural, Northern Wales.  He is a delight!   The name of John's blog is "Going Gently"  Check it out  to see the purpose behind this adorable kitty photo.

DREAM says...

"Better that cat, than ME!"
"Don't forget ~ today at Noon, Mom's going to announce the winning bid on the One of a Kind,  very first one in a limited edition,  needle felted sheep/soap figurine of ME!"

That's right, Dreamer.  we're down to the final hours of the Silent Auction for the first in my limited edition collection of "Dream" figurines.  There will only be ten made and sold and this figure is signed (by me) and numbered ~ #1.  Funds from this auction go to help support Bluff Country Shetlands (and Backyard Chickens) as I build my at home-business, in an attempt to earn a living ~ doing what I LOVE!

...The winning bid will be announced this afternoon...

"Birth Announcement" ...
A "new" DREAM!

After three days of hard labor, she is finally here!

Introducing the limited edition
"DREAM "  needle-felted soap!

I will only be offering ten of these.

Each will be signed and numbered.

Each will be approved by Dream, prior to shipping!

I am considering offering the very first one
on here as a "silent auction".
It could be a fundraiser for the lean days ahead until my business grows enough to keep this place going.

DREAM says...

"Heck, Mom!  You'll probably be able to pay off the mortgage with the money you'd get from auctioning of a figurine of ME!!!"

Ahhhh, right, Dreamer!

She's done:
My very first needle-felted PIG!

Meet "PORSHA"

Porsha is my first attempt at needle felting a pig over a bar of goat milk soap.

Porsha's body is felted around a big, oval shaped bar of "Lavendar' goat milk soap.  So, she smells heavenly!

I've added her to my store at  "Sheep Hugs & Soap Suds"

DREAM says...

"You have GOT to be kidding me!"
"At least Mom didn't enter any PIG pictures in the photo contest!
Don't forget to cast your vote for  the "Ewes in the Mist" photograph.
The last day to vote is Tuesday, the 30th, and I know it would make Mom really happy if you voted every day 'till then!"

"...pigs...."

Soap Art ~ Meet "Bubbles"!

I thought I had finished my very first, needle-felted, SHEEP SOAP.  However, now that I've seen the photos, I think I will add eyes and a nose/mouth.

I am, however, pretty pleased with "Bubbles"!  She's the first, needle-felted, soap art that I have done and I think she is adorable.  There's no "pattern" ~ I just made her up as I went along.

She is 100% natural ~ all Shetland Wool and homemade Goat Milk Soap!

I had so much fun making her.

Once she has her eyes, nose and mouth, Bubbles will be available for purchase in my "Sheep Hugs & Soap Suds" on-line store.

I'm thinkin' I'll price her at $15.00

DREAM says...

"Fifteen dollars for a Shetland Sheep?  How embarrassing!  What I want to know is how Mom got that soap inside of Bubbles...? "

It was magic, Dreamer.
Pure Magic!

;-)
