It's That Time of Year...

My Girls don't know it but it's time to deworm them.
Somehow, they don't seem to mind!

Fortunately for my flock, I use pumpkins as a natural dewormer.
They LOVE them!

Eat up, Ladies!

It's such hard work being a shepherdess!

  1. Do you feed them the whole pumpkin? I think I heard it is the seeds that act as the dewormer. I was going to get left over jack o lanterns from people, but if I need to seeds, I'll buy some after Halloween on sale.

  2. I do feed the whole pumpkins, Christy. I just throw them up in the air and let them split when they hit the ground. The girls will clean up everything but the stem...

  3. My goats really enjoyed chewing at the outside of the pumpkins but when we broke them open, then the goats turned up their noses at the pumpkins. We wanted the goats to eat up the pumpkins.

    Nancy,
My favorite post of yours is pumpkin-eating sheep with their orange-stained chins . Love, love, love it. Great comic relief.

  5. How many pumpkins do you feed them? For just one time or do you do it for several days or wait a certain amount of time in between...? These are just regular pumpkins that are sold for carving?

    :D

How is the chicken doing, dearest girl? I hope both she and thee are doing well.

And I know it's a cliche in MN, but can you believe the weather we've had this October? I dread the coming months. What happened to Fall??!!
