I'm a spontaneous kind of Blogger. I don't usually plan out what I'm going to write about. I usually just go out, in the morning, and take pictures and then write about whatever catches my eye in the photographs. But today....I had plans!
Today I was going to write about the beautiful HsT ewe lamb that I am donating to the Midwest Shetland Sheep Breeders Association (MSSBA) for their annual "silent auction" fund raiser. This year the MSSBA group will be hosting the North American Shetland Sheep Breeders Association "AGM" (Annual General Meeting) at the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival, in Jefferson, Wisconsin. WOW! That was a mouthful!!
Anyway, I WAS going to show some photos of the beautiful, HsT ewe lamb that I am donating and her sister, as they got their first halter lessons yesterday. What a hoot! But the rest of my girls had other plans....
It's kind of a long story. I started putting step in posts around the flowers in my back yard because I was planning (there's that word again!) to let the rams into the yard to eat the long grass (as opposed to mowing it). I also moved the girls into the middle paddock to give them some fresh grazing. I picked the pumpkins that were growing outside of the fenced in patch I had planted them in so the girls wouldn't get at them. I placed the early-picked pumpkins in various, strategically decorative locations around the back yard. And then something (I can't remember what) distracted me and I came into the house.
When I looked out the window a few minutes (?) later, my ewes were IN the back yard. I have no idea who left the gate unhooked!!! Be glad that you were not here to hear the words that came out of my mouth as I discovered:
I have NO idea who could have done this! Perhaps "Zaria"???..
Or maybe "Diva"?
Surely "DREAM" would never participate in such rampant destruction!
I'm certain that my sweet, gentle "Flash Flood" would never take part in such Shenanigans!
My prized "Dwarf Lilac Bush"
I have VERY bad sheep...
;-D
tomorrow: Beautiful, HsT ewe lamb donated to MSSBA! (?)
DREAM says...
"It was Zaria, Mom ~ I swear! It was Zaria!"
The tongue out shot is awesome :-) Too funny :-)
ReplyDeleteNever a dull moment with animals is there? Most all of mine have that "innocent" who me? look down. The amazing thing is I can even catch them in the act and they can morph into "that look". Everyone except Kylie, who doesn't quite have it down yet....she looks guilty and then says Whooowhoowhooo (which I'm sure is her explanation!) :)
ReplyDeleteAh, distractions are a very dangerous thing....
ReplyDeleteHow could you not laugh at those orange-lipped sheep. What a hoot!!
ReplyDeleteNot to worry, Sharrie. Once I got done swearing I was chuckling as I took the girls pictures. It seems that this is becoming and annual event!
ReplyDeleteThat is the most hilarious sheep post I've seen in a long time, especially the last shot...guess we know who's in charge here, eh? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI shared this with my husband, and we laughed ourselves silly. What a relief to know Shetlands are mischievous on other people's farm, too!
ReplyDeleteLove it Nancy! The pumpkin lip pictures even got my husband laughing! I'm envious of your orange pumpkins, ours are far from orange up in the northwoods!
ReplyDeleteHands down, best post! Swearing is a form of stress release:)I have learned to use those words as nouns, verbs, & adjectives. When I have a "tantrum" I know the animals are just laughing at me & thinking "she's in one of those moods...must be the ex's fault":)
ReplyDeleteBy far, your funniest post. Ditto what Sharrie said about the orange/yellow lips. The story could make a great children's picture book.
ReplyDeleteDiane/Bloomington,IN
LOL!!
ReplyDeleteThose lips *definitely* speak for themselves!
The Teenaged Thug has been obsessed with Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog lately, and now suddenly instead of the constant repetition of the "Bad Horse" song, we are hearing "Bad Sheep, Bad Sheep, Bad Sheep, They're Bad..."
:D
THanks for the laugh! Sorry your plants had to suffer in order to provide you with such rich blog fodder, but plants grow back, right?
ReplyDeleteToooo funny! I just laughed my self silly. thanks for brightening my day!
ReplyDeleteI just had to laugh and laugh about your post and pictures ...
ReplyDeleteSorry meant to say ... been there/done that, although back then there were times it wasn't too amusing to me until later in the day or the next day.
ReplyDeleteMy husband & I laughed & laughed at your sheep. Our goats are the same way,I cannot take my eyes off of them when they are not tied, one day all 4 of them went up the lane to greet the mail lady who was walking down a package to us.I don`t believe she ever saw goats before. They never fail to cheer me up when I`m feeling low.phylliso
ReplyDeleteOh Nancy - I laughed until the tears were running down my face. Love the last picture of Zaria with the tongue out - way too funny. I hope you're doing calenders again this year - these pictures would be great.
ReplyDeleteROFLMAO!!!
ReplyDelete(Maybe I shouldn't laugh too loudly...you never know when it'll be my turn...)
Very funny Nancy, great photos of your naughty sheep! I hope the plants come back. I'm envious of those nice big pumpkins!
ReplyDeleteLOL Nancy. I seem to remember some of your sheep getting into the pumpkins last year too! Of course it actually inspired me to give my sheep the leftover pumpkins after halloween. They are still adorable
ReplyDeleteFive Little Pumpkins sitting on a gate,,,BELLAMICA warned "uhoh, sumbudy left open the gate!" DREAM then sang "Look!-Mom has gone in there!" and DIVA cried "but we don't dare!" then FLASH FLOOD shouted "let's run and run and run..." and ZARIA yelled "Come ON, LET'S have some FUN!!!
ReplyDeleteWHOO went the WIND and OUT went the EWES,,and the Five Little Pumpkins rolllled out of sight!
nibble nibble nibble
You should send that last pic to Hobby Farms to put in their Center Fold :)
ReplyDeleteHilarious! I love those guilty yellow lips!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is TOO funny. I'm glad you linked back to it as it was before I met you and I would have been sorry to have missed this classic post!
ReplyDeleteI somehow missed this post last year. Yes, thanks for linking back to it. It is absolutely hilarious! The guilty orange staining is precious. I hope the plants recovered.
