Walking in the Bluff Country....

*As always, click on image to bigify*

Bella & Sadie took me for a walk this morning. They decided that I we needed the exercise and that the sunshine and fresh air would be good for me us.

Silly girls

This is the view from a a hill across the road and a couple of fields from my place. If you bigify the photo, you can see my place, almost in the center of the photo.
The soybeans are starting to turn and it's such a beautiful time of year in my peaceful valley.
An intersection of gravel roads near my home.
Sadie and I thought this old mailbox was pretty interesting.

It is so peaceful in my valley that I can sit out on my front steps in the morning and listen to the sound of the water running in this creek, across the road from my place.
This is the field between my house and the creek.
It was a lovely walk. The dogs had a good idea.
But there's no place like home and my own back yard...

  1. That looks like a nice, peaceful interlude - I think the dogs are pretty smart at prescribing the right 'medicine'.

  2. Looks like you had a beautiful morning for a walk and a beautiful, peaceful area to do it in. My gosh, your barn is so nice and 'flowered' up so pretty too.

  3. Oh how Lovely! Thank you so much for the walking tour!

My goodness...You have your barn decorated so beautifully....I have a dying/dead ivy in a pot on the steps. No wait. The pot fell over so I have a pile of dirt and dead vines on my porch. So envious of how beautiful it all is.

  4. What a beautiful place to call home! I felt the peacefullness just viewing the pictures...there is nothing like a country road & a barn in the country to clear the mind. Thank you for sharing:)

  5. how do they stay IN the fenced in part with only three strands? Mine don't get shocked when they have so much fleece on them. Tell me your secrets :)

  6. Your scenery is so lovely Nancy. Here, it is very flat - no hills at all for miles. Your barn looks great too - my sheep would have gone through the fence and eaten it all by now.

  7. So nice and green! And I too wonder how you keep your sheep behind such a fence? Oh the green grass I feed hay all year long. The little grass I have gets watered regularly during summer.

  8. Such a lovely little spot of paradise! I'm glad the dogs convinced you to get out for some 'therapy'. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place. (and I too am amazed at the flowers around your barn!)

Hi Nancy, I always enjoy your blog and invite you to read mine. I have been tagged and was told to tag someone else so I chose you. Hope you decide to participate. It would be good to know a little more than your blog tells us.
Keep up the good work, and keep writing.

  11. All of you guys are SO wonderful! Thanks for the cheerful comments and the compliments on my little barn. Actually, the 'barn' in my backyard is an old chicken coop that my Ex and I resided and put new windows in. We used it for a horse barn for our two Arabian horses. (back before one of them almost killed me and I got out of horses and into sheep!) The barn is right out my kitchen window and blocks part of my view of the sheep's pasture so I have often complained about it. BUT ~ it's handy having it so close and I love decorating it with all the pretty flowers. It looks quite drab once all the colorful flowers die off ~ which will be very shortly! My sheep are so well trained to electric fence that the three wires work great in temporary areas. I always use 7 strands as perimeter fencing and anywhere that I need to make sure that they stay where they belong.

P.S. don't tell my girls but the 3 strands of electric....aren't even TURNED ON!!!

    ;-)
