Rosemary and Thyme...(and SHEEP, of Course!)

I have been bitten by the "Perennial Bug". I find that I keep buying perennial plants and planting them. My latest acquisitions are herbs:
Rosemary

and Thyme

I'm sure the sheep just can't WAIT to try them...

I've posted quite a few photos of Dazzle, lately. She's one of the two ewe lambs that I am keeping this year. The other ewe lamb that I'm keeping is:

The real problem with photographing Flash is that she's always on my lap! I try leaning way back and holding the camera at arm's length, but it's not easy gettting good pictures of her.

My Beautiful Baby Girl wanted me to post more pictures of HER beautiful rooster. So, Here he is...

I can't blame her ~ he really is a handsome boy.

Luca crows. A LOT. Katie thinks he needs a girlfriend.

I only have 3 chickens.

I suppose I should say that I have two roosters and one hen.

An apparently OLD hen. (no eggs)

Maybe Katie's right. I guess I'm in the market for a couple of young hens!

Where does one buy 2 or 3 young chickens????

As Promised...The Three Musketeers....

These three lambs are practically inseperable. The Three Musketeers (in the Bluff Country, anyway!) consist of "Dazzle", her brother, "Razzle" and his buddy "Dusty". They are always together ~ often in trouble (as in slipping through the fences) ~ and infinitely adorable!

As I said yesterday, Razzle and Dusty will be leaving this coming Friday for their new home. Poor Dazzle will be LOST without "her boys"! It's a good thing she's such a friendly ewe lamb.

Because I know that their new shepherdess will have Razzle and Dusty wethered, I have let them be obnoxiously friendly (but well behaved!) boys. I will miss them. Fortunately, I get together with their new mom every Friday so I'll get to see them often!

And of course, Dazzle will be staying with me so she'll be plenty spoiled...

I'm Still Kickin'...

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted. I've been fighting some kind of bug and just not feeling well. I've used up all my paid sick time at work and have dipped into my unpaid time. NOT good...

What IS good is that my Beautiful Baby Girl came home for another, brief, visit!

She plied me with healthy foods (Ma-hi Ma-hi and Talapia) and bought me all sorts of immune system boosters like "AcaiBlast" and Echanasia. Before you know it, I'll be SO healthy...

I did manage to get out and take a few pictures of my beautiful flock.

This is Zaria and her handsome, scurred (half-polled) son, Eureka. He'll be shaela just like his dam.

This is Eureka's twin sister, Gold Rush. She has really lightened up and looks like she'll be Mioget!

My dazzling "DAZZLE" is finaly being a bit more cooperative about having her photo taken.

It's about time!

Here, she's shown with her twin brother"Razzle", who is going (with his best buddy, Dusty) to live with a new shepherdess as a wether and fiber pet. One the one hand, it's disappointing ~ because both Razzle and Dusty are flock sire quality. On the other hand ~ the odds of finding breeding homes for these boys are slim-to-non-existant. So, I'm grateful to have found a home where I know that they will be loved and cared for and have each other and a VERY good life! Plus, I'll get to go visit them!!

"Bluff Country Catnap". Sometimes Ewes Have Horns...

I think she's elegant!


Catnap is my first, fully horned ewe. I've had several with small horns in the past. And last year MOST of my ewe lambs had scurs. Some, barely visible. Some an inch or two long. I think there were two other ewe lambs that may have grown horns out of last year's lamb crop but I sold both of them when they were quite young.

Catnap did break the tip off one of her horns when she was quite young and you can see that her left horn is not quite as long or curved as her right. I think she's absolutely beautiful. And her fleece is like BLACK VELVET!!

Catnap is one of the many ewes that will be leaving me at the end of this month. I will miss her terribly...

Ewes in the Morning Mist...

I was feeling rather lazy this morning but then noticed that it was foggy out and the fog was just beginning to lift. My favorite time for taking pictures!

The ewes and lambs were all still hanging around the barn so I walked out into the pasture to lure them into prettier surroundings.

What a nice way to start the day!

Mr. Toad and Alice...

Meet Mr. Toad.


Mr. Toad lives along the wall, by the little barn in my back yard. Amongst what is left of my flowers.

I like Mr. Toad because he eats bugs. Bugs that could harm my flowers.

Maybe, if he eats enough bugs, Mr. Toad will get big enough to eat SHEEP that hurt my flowers...

Alice looked sad this morning. She was standing by the fence, all by herself, looking longingly into the pasture and paddock that I used to keep the girls in.

So, I shut the boys into the other half and opened the gate so that Alice and the other girls are now in the "old" ewe paddock.

Alice looks happier.

DAISY Says...

"Mom's letting me do the honors today because she's still too mad at the sheep and the DOGS (trust me ~ you DON'T want to know!) to even talk about them. So we'll talk about my favorite subject: ME.

I'm the Queen around here. I like to patrol my Kingdom ~ or would that be Queendom? ~ and make sure everything is as it should be. I particularly like to keep an eye on the lambs to make sure that they are behaving themselves.

It's my job to teach the lambs to show proper respect to us cats. Sometimes they get a little over-enthusiastic and I have to set them straight.

Sometimes they gang up on me and then I get a little nervous.

SHEESE! Give a girl room to breathe!

This guy looks like he wants to EAT my TAIL...

I think I'll back into the house. No sheep ~ or DOGS (today) allowed in THERE!

I hope Mom doesn't forgive them TOO soon..."
