Gosh. I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad. The truth is, I am BOTH.
Jill went to her FOREVER HOME today! A wonderful couple that I liked and trusted completely the moment I met them. You know ~ one of those moments when you just know it is right.
Steve and Lindsey had to say good-bye to their beloved black lab, three months ago, when cancer took him from them. They waited until they felt that their hearts were healed enough to let another dog in and thought it would be a wonderful tribute to their dog if they adopted a rescued dog in his honor. It didn't take Jill long at all to win them over!
They fell in love with her exotic beauty, her spunk and her sweet, loving personality. (How could they NOT?)
You may notice that someone else was pretty taken with Steve and Lindsey...
Cisco was in seventh heaven to have met someone (besides me) who actually sat and petted him and appreciated what a wonderful dog he is! Of course, Jill is also Cisco's best friend so he stuck pretty close to her with all the fuss these nice people were making...
Steve and Lindsey really liked Cisco as well and were very impressed at how well behaved he was once the initial excitement was over. But, we all agreed that, for now, it is best if they just take Jill home. They'll give it some time and talk things over and maybe even bring Jill back out here for a play date or have Cisco come in for a visit (maybe an overnight!) at their house so that Jill and Cisco can continue their friendship.
Didn't I tell you they are wonderful people?
I am so happy that Jill has gone to SUCH a loving couple. I have absolutely no doubt what-so-ever that she will have a wonderful life. But I already miss her.
A lot.
It's mighty quiet around here.
I think I'll go take Cisco and Hero for a walk...
That is wonderful! Congratulations and *hugs* ♥
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. I really am happy for my little Jill. I have bonded quite firmly with her after all she went through and it was hard to let her go. But she so deserves a home where she will be the STAR ~ not just one of the pack. Even if she was a VERY special one!
DeleteCongrats to Jill!
ReplyDeleteIt's great when those special people come along.
It really is! As much as it broke my heart to hand Jill over to someone else to take home and love, I feel so good about having found such a wonderful family to love her as she should be loved.
DeleteThis is great news. I'm so glad that someone saw the beauty of this dog. Jill well be so happy. I can see the interaction in the photos. She will be loved.
ReplyDeleteI am SO happy for Jill!
ReplyDeletea nice family photo!
ReplyDeleteYour heart must feel so good. I'm glad Jill found her forever home!
ReplyDeleteAww Nancy, I can sure understand why you miss Jill. What a beautiful young couple for her forever family. Also hats off to you for the excellent care and love you gave Jill while she was with you. She just glows with health and looks stunning with her new family. Quite a contrast from when I visited you this winter and she was so sick.
ReplyDeleteI've been involved here with wolf issues. The new wolf hunting law WI legislature just passed is horrible as written, stacked heavily against the wolves. Very few experts or important stakeholders had input--it was a rush job. A bunch of us volunteer wolf trackers, like, 66 of us, have formed a coalition to see what we can do. The governor still could veto the bill, but we'll be very surprised if that happens--it has a waiting period and then it automatically becomes law. The law oks use of up to 6 dogs to hunt a wolf, which we feel is inhumane to both the dogs and the wolves. Wolves and dogs are closely related and will fight to the death in hunt/chase circumstances. It was good for me to hear some happy news about a dog today, namely, Jill and her new forever home, so thanks for all you do!
