Shetland sheep have changed my life and touched my heart. They have brought me joy, adventure and serenity. Follow along as I live each day influenced by memories of my mighty flock of mini sheep ~ aided and abetted by "Bellamica", the English Shepherd,"Sable", my livestock guardian dog and "Hero" the rescue dog that stole my heart! You'll also meet many of the homeless dogs that I rescue and rehome as part of Bluff Country Canine Rescue.

Monday Memories...
We are missing our big eared little girl.
You've seen the 'cover' photo before but this is a completely different video...
Thank you Sweetie! I'm glad too. Jill is such a special girl ~ she really deserved a second chance and a loving home. I'm honored to have been a part of helping her get there.
I'm so grateful to people like you who are willing to foster animals and find them good, forever homes. I will never forget Jill's face. She is a beautiful dog and the people who adopted her look like wonderful folks who will love her and take care of her forever. Thank you for what you do.
To do what you are doing takes courage. You have to be able to distance yourself from emotional involvement otherwise you just wouldn't be able to do it, would you. I know you find this difficult, probably all animal lovers do. The nice thing is that Jill will always remember you. If you see her again in five years time, she will still remember you and that is a comforting thought. That is your reward; that and the fact that you gave her and the others a new start in life.
There's no doubt that the hardest part of rescue (for me, anyway) is letting them go after putting so much heart and soul into healing them physically and emotionally from their past. As difficult as it is for me, I don't think I would want to 'distance' myself. These dogs come to me needing and deserving every ounce of love that I can give. And MORE! I just have to learn to be unselfish and let them move on when the time is right so that they can continue on the path to having loving families of their own.
P.S. I'm going to go visit Jill this Saturday! ;-)
Aww, Im sorry you have to miss her and those wonderful ears! But im glad you saved her and found her a forever home!!

DeleteThanks for your support! I have to admit, being in "Rescue" is much more difficult than I ever dreamed. But OH-SO-WORTH IT!!!
