The Wait is Almost Over...

Lambing should wrap up in the Bluff Country sometime today. I moved the "ladies in waiting" to the nursery paddock yesterday and put the ewes with lambs into the larger paddock/pasture that those two were luxuriating in.

The new moms and lambs are having a blast.

Back in the nursery paddock, I noticed that Zodiak's lambs have 'dropped' and her body is preparing for lambing. It's harder to tell anything on Bella Luna as she just looks ROUND.

I just came in from checking on Zodiak & Bella Luna and it is quite apparent that Bella is in early labor. Zodiak is sticking pretty close to her and I'm sure that she'll lamb today as well.

I'm going to run into town and buy a new camera card (among other things) but want to make sure these girls are either done, or have long enough to go that I can do my errands and get back, before I leave...

Wish us luck!!

UPDATE:

Bella delivered a healthy, moorit ewe lamb, quickly followed by a black & white/HsT ram lamb with no problems what so ever! It's amazing how the mothering intincts kick in. She's a wonderful Mom. Chortling to her babies and licking them clean and dry. For a girl that sure didn't want me touching anywhere around her udder ~ she made sure that her lambs new where the food supply is!

Zodiak's still grazing...

  2. You know we live to see lamb photos, but I have to tell you that your cat is beautiful, too! I suppose she is helping you watch for the birthings? So confident up on that perch. I also have a Calico I dearly love.
