Two Days in a Row and SHEEP....!

"Anybody want to push me on the swing?"

I moved the girls to fresh pasture today. They are in heaven! Of course, they have to check out the "hay" I have drying in piles that I raked yesterday and turned earlier today.

I'll bag them up before I leave for work, later this afternoon.

I'm getting quite a bit stored for this winter!

Dream's in charge of making sure it's good enough to keep...

"That is, when she's not looking for someone to push her on the swing!

DREAM says...

"Now, THAT'S more like it!
For those of you who read this blog (as opposed to just looking at it for pictures of ME) please do NOT encourage Mom when it comes to those chickens! She's wacko enough without any help from all of you! I don't mean to be bossy or anything ~
I'm just sayin'....

  1. Well Dreamer, now that she's learned just how quickly those chickens can get sick and DIE, maybe she'll appreciate her healthy, hardy little sheep more!

  2. Sorry Dreamer, it's an addiction. There's no stopping her now. I'm not even sure an intervention would help.

BTW, I spit soda on my laptop when I saw the swing picture and caption. Perfect.

Please be sure that your "hay" is really really dry before you "bag it up" and put it away. I was thinking about your hay as a fire hazard the other day, and it worried me a bit. But I imagine that you do know how to keep hay from molding or catching on fire. Take care. You have lovely sheep, chickens, and grand children.

  5. Don't worry Dreamer, you've got fans who are keeping an eye on how chickeny the blog becomes ;o)

My girls are enjoying their new pasture too... but I've got 3 boys with fly strike :o( Awful, just awful.

  6. Michelle ~ well, THAT's a cheerful little comment!

Christine ~ you are SO right!

Denise ~ if you come to push Dream on the swing, could you bring some of that beautiful yarn and teach me how to knit socks???

Anonymous ~ I hadn't even thought of the fire danger but you bring up a good point! I'll go downstairs (I store the bags in my basement, by the dehumidifier) and check each bag for warmth this morning!

Jenny ~ my heart goes out to you, having to deal with fly strike. How awful for you and your lambs! I hope they recover quickly and you get a break! I'll try to achieve some balance between my chicken obsession and my love for my Shetlands in the near future. It's just that the chickens are so NEW and exciting right now! Once I have my foundation flock established and am just sitting around waiting for them to grow up and have babies, it will be much easier to get back into a routine. Not to worry ~ my Shetlands will always be number one in my heart!

Gotta go look at chicken websites now....

    ;-)

My lady goats sounded just like Dream when my friend asked me the other day if I wanted a baby lamb..."NO, MAMA, NO!! These three kids you are making us share the pasure with are more than enough!!"
Thay don't care if I get chickens 'cause they'll live by the veggie garden :)
