Not EvenTWO MONTHS Old...

I was trying to get some current pictures of the lambs this morning.
They grow SO quickly!  Of course, they were extremely uncooperative and all they would do was keep their heads down and graze.

I did manage to get a shot of Alice and her triplets, coming out of the calf hut where they choose to sleep at night...

I knew I had a picture of Alice with the triplets when they were only a day old so I dug it up...

Isn't that incredible?
Those babies won't even be two months old until  July 1st!

Something that makes me very happy:

I don't know if you can see it or not (click to enlarge) but my beautiful lady still has all her teeth!
She's TEN YEARS OLD, folks!

God, I love that ewe...

  1. Your Alice looks so much like Bluebell and Yarrow, her daughter. I've never looked at Alice's pedigree but they are likely very related. Any polled-ness in Alice's lines? Scurs on rams? I'm lookin'...

  2. Funny you should mention that, Gail. Duke does appear to be scurred! He's the first ram that Alice has had that is, although she's had a couple of grandsons that are.

Yes, I'm sure that Alice and your Bluebell are related ~ having both come from Highland Hollow. Jane raises some mighty fine Shetlands and I will always be grateful to her for giving me my Alice.

  4. Do you know, that first paint has such interesting light and shaddow effect on the sheep that I thought it was a painting? What mood.

Alice, congratulations on those lovely teeth!

  5. Yes, I had to take a double, no, triple look at those pictures! I thought you had photo-shop'd them to make them look like they were in a story book... great pictures, and beautiful smile Alice!

Yes, Alice is a good ewe, all right. I can't believe how big her lambs are already. Do you think that creep feed will make them into Giants? Is her son the one who is the lightest and whose face looks the most like hers?

  8. I also studied that first picture to see if you'd done some photo shopping! The sun coming in and the stark white of the hut were clearly very effective. Good picture taking mom! I'm glad you have your Alice, and that she has all her teeth ) (I didn't know they lost them!)
