FRESH PASTURE...

This Spring has been so cold that the grass is way behind on it's normal growth. I've been worrying about the pastures being adequate to feed my girls! I do not supplement my flock with any grain. Once they're out of the jugs, the ewes (just like all of my sheep) get grass. Period.

The grass in the pasture by the big barn was pretty well eaten down so I moved the ewes and lambs into a pasture that I've kept everyone off of until now.

I would have preferred to wait another week or two before using this pasture but the Moms need the good grass NOW!

Look how pretty my babies look in the long, green grass!

I am truly NOT ignoring my gorgeous, MOORIT ram lambs! It's just that they're "big boys" now and are always off running by themselves ~ away from the rest of the flock. I promise I'll try to get some good pictures of them this week. In fact, I HAVE to ~ I need to start getting everyone listed on my Breeding Stock for Sale blog!

  1. They're all so beautiful! I love how fuzzy the lambs look already. :D One question I've always had, though, is what do you do with the fleeces? I am not sure I've ever heard mention of whether you sell the wool or not. As a handspinner and a follower of your blog, I'd love to buy some quality fleece from such an obviously well loved flock. :)

  2. Oh, how I wish we had pastures like yours. We've had to limit pasture time due to the dryness we already have. We're in red flag fire season already and no rain in sight. :(
    So much for Airzona...
