FRESH PASTURE ~ The Girls are fine...(thank Heaven!)

Thanks to all of you who wrote to warn me of the potential problems my girls could have had after eating my Rhododendrons (besides the fury of my wrath, of course). In case there is anyone out there who doesn't already know this: I wasn't really mad at my sheep. They were just being sheep! I'm the one who left the gate unhooked...

In what turned out to be a stroke of luck (for me ~ AND for my girls), I didn't see the e-mails until today. And the sheep were all still fine. They were fine all day yesterday too. I was home all day and spent most of it outside, with the sheep (and the lawn mower). Upon reading up on the information about the toxicity of Rhododendrons, I now realize how lucky we were! Because I wasn't aware of the potential threat, I did nothing yesterday. No Vet. No activated charcoal. No panic. Nothing...Other than turn the girls out onto fresh pasture. Come to think of it, that MAY have helped. I suppose their pigging out on the new grass could have diminished any impact that the Rhododendrons may have had.

  2. You know that you have "Sheep Heaven" there, don't you? Looking at those lush pastures with wonderful shade trees...well, we pale in comparison!
Do those sheep know just how lucky they are?

  3. I DO know how blessed we are to live in such a perfect spot for raising sheep! I've very grateful for my lush pasture. Don thinks it makes our sheep grow bigger than most. I don't know about that, but they definitely are HEALTHY!!
